Ghana Airport Company Limited, GACL  has decided to suspend the $20 charge on round-trip airline tickets for travellers departing from Kotoka International Airport (KIA) This  is in response to public outcry and stakeholder concerns.


The charge was initially intended to fund the construction of Terminal 3 at KIA.


Despite scheduled meetings to discuss the matter further, GACL has halted consultations on the $20 fee, citing the concerns raised by travellers and stakeholders as the reason for the suspension.

The recent visa waiver agreement between Ghana and South Africa has been commended for bolstering tourism and trade. This agreement, which took effect on November 1, 2023, permits citizens of both nations to visit each other's country for up to 90 days without the need for a visa. National Committee meeting in Johannesburg, President Ramaphosa expressed his contentment with the tangible benefits the visa waiver has brought to bilateral relations, including a notable increase in air travel and trade volumes between the two countries.
