The course, which formed part of the GOC’s continuing efforts to produce certified coaches and trainers in the country, involved 35 instructors drawn from the ten regions of the country.

The participants were taken through practical and theoretical aspects of fitness training by the course instructors.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the deputy Secretary General of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Rev. Richmond Quarcoo said that

“The GOC will not relent of its effort in supporting the federations with training for both officials and athletes. This is because we believe our athletes can only perform well if they get the right techniques from coaches or trainers who also have the right information.

“This is the core mandate of the Olympic committee, rather than paying allowances of athletes and officials.

“We want to appeal to all of you who have gone through this training to inculcate discipline in your athletes or clubs, and also go back to your regions to transfer the knowledge you have acquired from the course directors,” Rev. Quarcoo summed up.
