Two ideas normally come to mind whenever one is set to do any form of decoration. The first is to do it such that the place is not cluttered with lots of decorated items. The second is to decorate in a manner you could sit back and boast of the many things you have incorporated in your design; possibly, for somebody to say ``wow! you are wealthy``.

Thinking about the first idea, it reflects what most people say, ``I want a simple decoration ``.If you are that type, then you belong to a school of decoration thoughts called the MINIMALIST.
The second idea should it come up any time you want to decorate your home or, if you are an admirer of it, then you are in the MAXIMALIST school of thought.

To make it so simple for you in the concept of decorations who a minimalist or a maximalist is, think of the one who wants, say his kitchen, hall or bedroom to be very simple in terms of what decorates the place as a minimalist; and the one who wants to put something decorative at every available and noticeable space, in other words, get the place cluttered with decorative items as the maximalist.

MINIMALIST DECORATION

The minimalist loves to enjoy space. If you should get into a home that enjoys minimalist decoration type, you may be compelled to say the house is empty, possibly, you’ll suggest financial crises for the home. No, that is the style the fellow enjoys.

As a minimalist, get to know that, your furniture should be of a very simple design. There should be nothing like a complex design that cannot occupy the space in your room. However, make sure as simple as it is, it is also durable and beautiful. Try to have fewer furniture pieces in your room.

Thinking of minimalising your decoration in your home, you can decide to tile your floor with beautiful looking tiles. It safes you the task of laying another material on the floor, say carpet; which most minimalist think is an additional and unwanted material, once the floor can be kept clean and used without any artificial covering layer. Make sure the floor is always clean.

 Living the minimalist way, you should think as an editor of a any newspaper that you know, you should sift through the items you have just like the editor sift through his stories to get only the needed ones for publication. The same way, do away every item you think it is redundant in the room and live with the most important ones. 

 
Do not get the living room or the bed room scattered. You may be a lover of reading books. Don’t pack them on the centre table after reading. It will start as just once-with a reason that, you will continue from where you left, better still, you will read it again for its interest. Before you realise, the centre table will become your book shelve. Create a library for your books. At that library too, keep only the books that are of interest, and indeed, you would love to keep.

Hanging of pictures and other decorative items on walls can turn your room stuffy. Minimise the pictures you hang on the walls. A picture or two of you and that of a love one is just okay.
Intermittently, check the drawers or cabinets in the room, if there is any, and do away with some items that may not be of use.

Make sure your window curtains are not too thick as a minimalist. Go for the curtains type that are light and plain, just enough to avoid peeps outside your room. Too thick curtains contribute to the maximisation of your decorations.

The colours for your room as a minimalist decor maker counts. Avoid colours that are hostile to the eyes in terms of your wall paintings. Go for colours like blue or even some light brown colour.White is also preferable, and will give you enough warmth in your room.

Less I forget, a void wall carpets in your room.
Your bedroom can be more minimalised.You can just keep your bed-nothing else. While others prefer a sofa in the bedroom, ``Mr. Minimalist`` keeps none. For the minimalist, if you want to sit in the bed room, sit on the bed. Otherwise, get to the living room.

The lights you have in your room as a minimalist is key. There are some lights that have its design to be too grand. Avoid it as a minimalist and choose the simple but fine one for your room that can give you the desired visibility.

Minimalist turning into maximalist
As I have already indicated, the ideal home decor in modern decoration is the minimalist one. But, if you don’t take care, your minimalist idea of decoration will turn to the maximalist one. This is a trap you can easily fall into. Wondering? I will tell you how.

You fall into the trap when you are not cautious of what you add to the decorations you already have. Adding up additional decorations to what you have kept it minimal will seem to you as a property and there is the tendency to keep adding them; soon, you will see your decoration kept to the minimum level maximising. The whole room will then be cluttered. If you fail to see the need to de-clutter, you now turn into a maximalist.

Minimalist idea of decorating is the best. I think there is no good worth in excess. There is no beauty either. Just keep the room to the minimum decorative items and maintain the beauty of the room. Doing the opposite of the minimalist idea does the maximalist idea.

PAINT (Part 1) – Beauty and Protective Nature.

Paint is any liquid, liquefied or mastic composition, which after application to a substrate in a thin layer is converted to a solid film. It is mostly used to protect, colour or provide texture to objects. Paint appears in many different colours and stored solid and applied as a liquid but dries into solid.

Paint comes in different types according to their special features such as, Oil paints, watercolour, Acrylic paint, anti climb paint, Water Miscible Oil Paints, Metallic Paint, Enamel Paint among others.

Paints aside serving as protective cover for objects also beautifies the object. The colour of the paint and the expertise used in applying gives it the appealing effect thereby beautifying the property.

When a property is left without been painted, it looks old. Paint on the other hand when applied to the property; make it look very new and attractive.

Corrosion which is the oxidation of metals in reaction with an oxidant such as oxygen and harmful to unprotected metallic properties can be prevented when paint is applied to protect the metal from corrosion. Paint also prolongs the life span of properties.

There are different types of paints each with its special effect on objects and properties serve different purposes and used at different periods.
